ClimateGate: signs of a tipping point?

Not all AGW skeptics are on the right wing anymore, if that was ever the case. (I personally know hard left-wingers that are pretty skeptical of AGW and can make fun of Al Gore with the best of them — when no “true believers” are within earshot.)

Simon at Classical Values notes and quotes an anti-AGW screed by just about the last person, and in the last publication, you’d suspect of conservative or pro-capitalist views: Andrew Cockburn [!] in Counterpunch [!!].

And “Pi guy” on C2 tipped me off that “Even the New York Times [is] now openly mocking global warming, comparing it to Y2K and other mass hysteria phenomena (a.k.a. Algoreophobia)“.

Does this perhaps explain why some of the high priests of AGW seem to be losing it? (“Snork”, the author of the piece, cannot resist throwing in a reference to Captain Queeg’s obsession with who stole the strawberries.)

Alexander Cockburn has been AntiGW for at least three years. He sees the whole thing as a great Zionist (read = Jew) money/power conspiracy. [Gee, is there anything that Mayheget Cockburn doesn’t see as a Jewish conspiracy?]

Jew hate has a long history in the Cockburn family. Brother Andrew Cockburn’s 1991 Jew hate book (Dangerous Liasons) was essentially plagerized by Walt & Me[a]rsheimer’s 2007 Jew hate book (the Israel[] Lobby). Yet Andrew made no complaint about the Saudi oil money professors stealing from him.

Father Claude was such a hardcore Jew hating Stalinist Communist that even Papa Hemingway had to call him out.

If it’s bad for Jews,[…] one of the Cockburns will publish it, write it, or promote it.
